What is it with people these days? I swear, this is the "me" generation. In other words, screw you, I'm only thinking about myself. Two examples: Today I had a very tight schedule and I'm coming up the street and there are two women having a conversation - smack in the middle of the sidewalk and you can't detour around them. They don't move! People literally squeezed past them but not me.. I pulled up very slowly.. as slowly as I can so there was no missing me. Did I say "excuse me"? Not a chance, I just kept inching closer and closer until they either moved or I ran over their damn toes. Selfish sidewalk hoggers.
Then I'm in the grocery store... what is it with some people? Why the hell do they leave their cart in the middle of the isle while they shop? Sometimes in the next isle? Take the damn cart with you you fool.
And Carry A Big Stick!
This blog is simply a walk in my footsteps. My life, emotions, opinions and thoughts. They don't have to be yours too, that's perfectly fine. But just know, if you walk with me you best carry a big stick too. I live in a big city, in social housing and right downtown. The City is my landlord and they don't give a rat’s ass. I'm not promising anything here, could be entertaining, may not be. It's just a place to put my thoughts through my day to day passages.

Keep to the right !!! Keep to the right !!!
oh for crying out loud.. don't they teach anyone anything anymore....?? hmmm too many any's! lol Anyway.. what is it with people these days that have to walk in the middle of the damn sidewalk and you can't get past them? Never fails to go right to get around them and they go right.. you go left.. they go left but for the most part, they have to be right in the middle of the damn sidewalk and you can't get around them.
KEEP TO THE RIGHT YOU MORON...
Lesson... If you always keep to the right then there is a nice, smooth moving path of people. Either way. If someone needs to pass you, they can!

stupid ass people.. or.. I hate drunks
Last night on the way home from the hospital, being with my seriously ill mom, I was coming home in the dark and had to go under some scaffolding. The contractor didn't hang lights under there so it was fairly dark, not getting the light from the street lights.
Next thing I know I run over a broken beer bottle. Instantly I get a full blown flat. Son of a bitch. Too bad the ass that dropped it wasn't laying on the ground too. I swear I would have got off the scooter and jumped up and down on him.
Now I'm stuck in a really shitty part of the City.. between Shuter and Dundas on Jarvis St. Directly across from the Grand Hotel. Luckily a young couple stayed with me until my friend Jimmy showed up from home with his disabled accessible van/cab to pick me up. H.M.E. came at 8:30 am this morning to fix the flat.
We have laws about drinking in public. Whether you like it or not asshole. I honestly wish I knew who you were ... I got no sleep because I was scared shitless that the hospital would call me and needed me there right away and I had no scooter to get there because of this damn drunk. They should make liquor illegal. Wouldn't hurt my feelings at all. Would put a serious dent in drunk driving that's for sure.

really???? The world doesn't run by your schedule!!
Today was the first opportunity I've had to sleep in in many days.... yea... so my phone rings @ 7:30 am. wonderful. Stupid scooter place to tell me they are bringing me a new loaner scooter (this one has a bent axle) today by noon! So you have to phone @ 7:30 am to tell me this? Since I'm up I give my mom her morning meds and head back to bed. I'm not expecting the first psw until 8:30 am and the lab tech between 9 & 10. At 8:15 my phone goes again. This time it's the lab tech, she's finished early, can she come now??? Sure.. give me 15 minutes. Now the psw is due too at 8:30. I officially give up trying to get some sleep. Put the coffee on, let the dogs out and let the lab tech in. She finishes, leaves and no psw yet. So I take another look at the schedule and it says 8:30. I wait... at 9:15 she comes to the door and turns out they called her in early for another client which tossed her schedule around and they were suppose to call me about it... that she'll be almost an hour late... nice.. very nice. so much for rest before my long day.

It was a longgggggg day..
Yesterday was exhausing. A typical day for me though. I don't know why but most of my days are challenging. Not only am I disabled but I'm my mom's caregiver and I run an organization. whew..
Yesterday started normal but this weekend I have the weekend off and am taking my mom for 3 days respite at the local nursing home. I'm slow these days after a recent heart attack so I'm running a few minutes late which I really don't like.
Probably bulletin point would be faster and easier... lol
1 - left here in the fresh snow (ugh) at 10:45, thankfully we are only going about 2 blocks and a friend is wheeling her. however she has to stop and wait for me because my mom is really attached to me and won't allow her to get to far ahead.
2 - get to the nursing home, pay them, then discover the entire freakin lobby is a movie set!!! holy shit are you kidding me? nope.. and not only that, there are those wonderful cables and those dumbass ramp things they put over them everywhere! My scooter goes wonky going over them and I don't like the sensation of tipping and getting a wheelchair over them is yet another matter. Some poor old man is trying with all his might to navigate a walker over one such ramp. Who the hell's idea is this and they could have said something.
3 - get her upstairs finally and tucked all in but then it's announced they have a new director and that director doesn't want the client's dosette's of medication, they want the entire bag of medicine bottles for her. My mom is on about 20 meds.. good grief. So now I have to go back home and get all her bottles of pills.
4 - on my way back someone tells me that the back tire of this piece of crap loaner scooter is wobbling!!! great. I ask the super to check it and he says yes, it's wobbling. He and another super look it over and the bolts are tight. The other super says he thinks my axle is bent. grrrr the damn scooter repair place has had my scooter for 3 mths now!!! claims they are waiting for parts.
5 - I have no choice, need to take the pills to my mom so off I go but since this is wobbly I now have to cancel my appt to get a series of x-rays done today because I don't want the tire falling off on the way to the hospital or back and be stranded for 2 hrs waiting for them to come and get the scooter.
6 - get there, give them their damn pill bottles and one of my caregiver reliefs comes in. whew.. by 3 pm I can go home and rest.
7 - go home, do dishes, give the dogs water, let them out, put stuff away, etc. etc. It's now about 4 pm and my mom is on the phone to me. She keeps turning off her phone by accident. Get that issue cleared up, get all this awful winter clothing off and lay down for a bit. She calls me again. no need, just calls.
8 - at 4:50 pm the phone rings yet again. This time it's a Dr. He has a new prescription for my mom. Yikes!!! My pharmacy closes at 5:30 and isn't open on the weekends. So I quickly dress again and get on the wobbly wheeled scooter and run to the pharmacy before they close.
9 - I'm hungry so grab some chinese take out too which really isn't what I wanted but earlier in the day I ran into Rabba and got some lasagna that was just terrible so I had to get something to eat before my sugars tanked.
10 - finished some of that, stripped down to regular clothing again and layed down. It's now 6 pm and the damn phone rings again. I see it's my sister and ignore it. The call isn't for me. Next thing you know she's calling my cell phone. I ignore it too. Then my mom calls.. and again she calls.. holy crap so much for some rest. This is driving me crazy and by 7:30 I get dressed and go back to the nursing home to calm her down.
11 - we have a long talk. She really doesn't want to be there but there is nothing all that much wrong with the place. She wants someone with her all the time but that can't happen there. She is really way too attached to me but I can't figure out how to stop that other than taking her here now and then. What is wrong is she keeps calling the nurse by the pull cord for nothing. One time she even pulled it for someone to see what's in her drink cups!! hence the long talk. But... I pulled it too! Unknown to either of us, someone clamped the stupid nurse pull cord to her purse handle so every time she moved her purse, the stupid thing would pull! Needless to say I let them know this and told them to just leave the cord hanging. good grief. While there I also discover that someone has put her phone on vibrate instead of ring. This happened last time too and it pisses me off because she's hard of hearing so doesn't hear it if it's just vibrating. So I fix her phone again.
She wants her window open more, it does get hot in there but you can't open her curtains to allow the breeze in because directly outside of her window are two of those blazing movie lights. Damn near blinds ya. I realize this brings money into the nursing home but really???? I asked them how long they are going to be there earlier and was told 2 am. Looks like she'll have her drapes pulled all night. Hoping she isn't too hot.
12 - I finally get home at 9:15 pm and feed the dogs, etc. crawl into bed by 10:30 and realize she hasn't phoned me. lol She was determined to call me before she fell asleep. oh well. It's quiet for a change. Piddle around on facebook, watch something short then crash around 11:30 I'm so damn tired.
so that was my day.. there was actually more to it as well. every time I went in there I had to deal with the movie set and at times not being able to go in because they were shooting and having to wait. And my mom thought there was a movie night too because it was on the chart for a 6:15 movie night in the lobby.. due to the actual movie being made in there all activities in the lobby were cancelled and she couldn't understand that and it got her confused because she thought she was suppose to go to the lobby. This didn't help matters either.
This morning.. her damn phone is off again. sheesh I called the nurses station and am told she's still asleep!! After 9 am??? damn. So here I am, taking advantage of quiet time. I'll go over with a coffee and her newspaper around 11 or noon and with 2 new sheets of directions. One to check her phone all the time to make sure it's on. and another telling the staff to keep their damn hands off her phone and stop changing it to vibrate. matter of fact, I'll have a talk to them about it too.

There is so much I can write about but it's finding the time. This morning I had a thought. Hey.. since I hadn't had my coffee yet, that's a miracle. lol Anyway, I realized I hadn't heard any gunshots in considerable time. Odd? Nah.. not for us, maybe for you. These damn kids running all over the bloodly place with their Saturday night specials, most couldn't hit the side of a barn if they tried. I'm just not understanding these kids running around killing each other over what??? Where do they get the idea this makes them big man on campus? And personally, I'm seriously fed up with the gov't/agencies/whoever continually throwing money at youth to get them off the streets and the guns out of their hands and they are still running around with their pants hanging off their asses, shooting each other and innocent people. Stop throwing money at them. It's not working!!!
Listen.. when I was a kid you didn't say shit if you had a mouthful. Sorry to be so blunt but hey... now-a-days.. cripes in the elevator I heard 8 yr olds tell people to F.O. So what is happening here? No discipline. No consistency. Computers and Gameboys or whatever they're called are babysitters these days and fry their little brains. Ship them outside and make them play in the fresh air and use their imagination. Ever think back to when we were all kids and only the rare kid was overweight? Now the rare one is average weight. Maybe that had something to do with the fact we played outside every day pretty much regardless of the weather. We ran, we played, we exercised on the jungle jim. We played baseball and red rover.. we were active. Today's kids sit on their asses. Day in and day out.
And why is it these kids today have to have everything and their parents break their backs to get it for them including all the designer clothing and running shoes that cost more than you would ever think to put out on a winter coat and boots combined? Why do they have to have the best clothes, toys, etc.? We did just fine and are still here today to talk about it with next to nothing. These kids don't know hardship. They learn nothing from giving them everything they want. They grow up thinking the world owes them a living and then get all bitter and angry when it's not handed to them on a plate.
I have a message for parents today.. grow the f up. Teach discipline. Teach respect. Don't give them everything they want. Teach them manners and respect for their elders. Sit them down at the table at the same time every day for family meals. And stop cooking whatever they want! Cripes, dinner used to be 5 pm and we ate what was put in front of us. We were poor... there was never such a dumbass thing as "I don't like that, I want...." and then my mom made it! lol oh yea, for sure. lol NEVER. We ate our veggies, we ate our meals and if we didn't, then tough because our mom worked hard taking care of us without all the luxuries of today. Then we asked to be excused from the table. Did it kill us? Nah.. we are all still here. Hell we walked almost a city block to pump our water in buckets!!! Heated it on a 2 burner hotplate. Used a wringer washer and hung our clothes to dry. Didn't matter if it was summer or winter, they went on the line. Cry me a river that you have to take an elevator 30 seconds to the basement with automatic washers and dryers. geez and while you're at it, teach your damn kid to do the laundry!!
Pampered.. the bunch of ya. You and your kids. Get some backbone and get some respect. Both for yourself and others.
